The Bosch CP4 pump, one of Bosch’s latest products, boasts a wide range of applications, including Ford, Citroen, BMW, Peugeot, Fiat, Honda, Volkswagen, Kia, and Hyundai.

The CP4 pump is designed to reach a maximum pressure of 2,700 bar. However, it’s important to note that this pump, unlike previous models, rotates at the same speed as the crankshaft, which, as a side effect, leads to the generation of metal residues created by friction between the roller and the shaft.

This metal residue travels through the entire fuel supply until it blocks and then breaks the injectors, causing serious damage. To prevent failure, and the resulting considerable expense of repairing and replacing the pump, injectors, and fuel filter, it’s a good idea to perform a preventative check of the injection pump to verify its condition. To perform this check, simply unscrew the two 25 Torx screws on the regulator on the pump. At this point, you can see whether or not there are any metal residues. If so, it’s advisable to inspect the pump immediately before it causes further damage.
